I’ve hooked up with a band called Black Waters. We played a Blues gig in Marion (Wednesday Night), and a “Band-okie” gig in Corunna (Thursday Night). We are just testing the “waters” as I am playing mostly bass guitar for them. If this develops into a consistent working gig, I’ll post more information on this blog and on my website. We will be playing again in Marion at Yeakles this Wednesday, and then at Jr’s in Leo this Thursday night. JR’s will be another “Band-okie” which means it’s like Karaoke but with a live band. The one we had in Corunna (North-way Tavern) was a blast. When I have more info I’ll let everyone know.

I hope you enjoyed the first draft of “The Disk”. That’s just the basic concept and with all things creative it will change. I figure I’d put it in my blog so it might stimulate the imagination of my readers. Since I only got one response I’m happy for it and thank you Phil. We know not what the future holds and even if I’ll venture into writing. If I do, I might post those writings on this blog (who knows!).

This is the first draft of a fantasy fiction I started writing. To date this will be the only place you will be able to read it. It’s not finished by any means, but any comments would be appreciated.

The Disk

There was a time in the history of this planet, when there were four stones. These stones illuminated the past, present, future, and various aspects of the universe. Only those with the correct genetic coding could see into these stones (to anyone else they would appear as flat black disk shaped stones). Each of the stones had different characteristics to see into various aspects of the universe. Combined in any combination would show the variables attributed to the powers of those stones. Combined together would show all of the great secrets of the universe.
The powers were precognition, telepathy, telekinesis, and hyper acuity.

The 1st stone
Precognition when with earth facing north.
Telepathy when with water facing south.
Telekinesis when with air and facing east.
Hyper Acuity when with fire and facing west.

The 2nd stone
Precognition when with water facing south.
Telepathy when with air facing east.
Telekinesis when with fire facing west.
Hyper Acuity when with earth facing north.

The 3rd stone
Precognition when with air face east.
Telepathy when with fire face west.
Telekinesis when with earth face north.
Hyper Acuity when with water face south.

The 4th Stone
Precognition when with fire face west.
Telepathy when with earth face north.
Telekinesis when with water face south.
Hyper Acuity when with air face east.

The 1st family passed the blessing to 1st male offspring of every generation. Joe
The 2nd family passed the blessing to 1st female offspring of every generation. Mary
The 3rd family passed the blessing to last male offspring of every generation. Glen
The 4th family passed the blessing to last female offspring of every generation. Star

These blessings were the ability to see into the stones and empower the blessed one with special powers attributed to the elements of that stone. From the beginning of time the stones were used as portals for the development of mankind. Though the dawn of time, many generations had come and gone. The stones were not always in the possession of the families. Often they were spread out to the four corners of the earth. But various times in history the blessed ones gathered seemingly by chance with the stones in their possessions. What they did with the blessings changed the destiny of man. The four families entrusted with the stones gathered around and shared the wisdom of the universe.

Located in a cave that gave shelter from the elements, a small group had gathered around. These were known as the humans. Survivors, and they spoke of the stones!

Outside the planet “Earth” had transformed through over thousands of years of documented civilization, but the scene was primitive, with very little signs of an advanced civilization. A catastrophe of global magnitude occurred. The population of humans decreased to almost extinction. Those that survived had a unique genetic code that made them immune to the sickness caused by the catastrophe. It was the same genetic code as the four families. Although this code gave them grace from extinction, they were still human, still frail, and still lived and died. They survived as a new race of humans.
This was a great power and responsibility. They knew mankind was not ready for this technology. The secret of the stones had to remain secure. But what were they to do with this new found knowledge and blessings? They had the powers of precognition, telepathy, telekinesis, and hyper acuity. History proved that others sought this power and terrible things were done to acquire this power.

The Stories
These are the stories that were told around small fire campfires.
Alan of the first family stared into the fire for a moment then he began to speak.
“It has been a long time since the stones were in our families”. The cave was silent except for the crackle of the small fire. He continued, “Before the day that has brought us to now, the stones were thought to be myth”. Slowly he reached into his pocket and pulled out the stone. There was awe and amazement in the group that had gathered. He began to tell the story of how his great grandfather (Joe) had come into possession of the stone and the stories passed down to him. In the year 1968 my great grandfather had traveled the world as a musician. It was in the summer of that year he found the stone. After the last performance of the tour, he was taking in the sights and saw a stone like no other lying on the ground. He had a strong feeling he could not explain. When he reached down and picked up the stone, it changed right before his eyes. This startled him and he dropped it immediately. It turned back into the black stone it was. He again picked it up with the same result. This time though he looked more intently at the stone. It became apparent to him that this was a viewer of some sort that could show a window to another realm. He remembered the stories of mythological stones. Could this be one of them? Everyone he showed it to said, “It’s just a black stone and that he must be imagining seeing things”. If some of the stories he’s heard are true, could he also be one of the blessed of myth? He packed up the stone in his luggage and flew back home. After getting unpacked and settled in, he was again drawn to the stone. He noticed that every time he touched the stone, it would enable him to see and hear thought, think conceptually, create, and analyze knowledge to a degree that was not common at all. His energies turned to locating the other stones and the blessed ones that were like him. This would be no easy task for there was not much documentation about the stones, only legend, myth, and stories passed down through family generations. But destiny has its design. One day in the recording studio, the stone (which he always kept on his person) began to pulsate then vibrate. He started hearing the thoughts of another. This was the first time he was empowered with this part of the blessing. After hours of screening candidates for the position of his late recording engineer, he was going to meet “Glen” the last applicant of the day. It was not until they actually met that the stones would come into play. As he opened up the door and Glen introduced himself, my great grandfather knew that this was the voice he had heard. The two talked about the engineering, mixing, and mastering of recordings until my great grandfather was convinced that Glen was the best candidate for the job. The subject soon changed to the stones. Glen said, “Most people would think that I’ve lost my mind but, I’ve seen our paths cross before in a black stone, and for some reason I know I can tell you”. Glen told my great grandfather of how he came into possession of the stone. His grandfather had passed the stone to him when he was born. It was to be always passed down to the firstborn grandchild upon their birth and, held in trust by the father until the child became 12 years of age. Glen, now an adult, shared some of the visions he’s seen in the stone with my great grandfather. Mostly historical in nature, Glen first thought that his stone was like an audio-visual device that recorded history. But written history did not coincide with the visions within the stone. It was not till later Glen would realize the stone was indeed amazing and, history was not completely accurate. Glen learned that the stone reveled events in the future, past, and present According to the visions of the present, and future, the stone was accurate all of the time. One night while looking into the stone, Glen received the empowerment of the stone and became a seer of time. At that time he realized that this must be one of the stones of myth and legend. Neither one was prepared for what was to happen next. They put before them the stones and when the stones touched, instantly both could see with each other’s blessings. They were one! That day would mark the beginning of the “Time of the Stones”.
With this new ability they traveled back and forth in time, but to everyone else only as unseen observers, and not outside a certain perimeter around the conjoined stones. They could not interact with nor could they change anything while in the dimension of time travel, except their dimension. They did learn however, this was a technology that could be dangerous in the wrong hands. Much care was then given to keep these stones secret.
They began work on the next album with a new view. The project was completed and a new 1969 summer tour was scheduled. Glen joined the tour as the sound engineer. The success of the album and tour was astounding. After the last performance in his hometown, a fan came up to get an autograph. Both stones pulsated then vibrated in my great grandfather’s and Glen’s pockets. My great grandfather heard a woman’s voice. When the fan asked for the autograph, he knew that is was the same voice. Her name was “Star” and she was of the fourth family, and with the fourth stone in an amulet around her neck. She also felt the pulse and vibrations of the stone. She started to ask my great grandfather if he believed in the myth of the stones, but before she could speak he said, “This we must speak of in private”. She knew then that he was one of the blessed for she knew of the blessing and the stone. He invited her backstage and introduced her to Glen. For a moment all three stood there with out saying a word. Their joint path would take them further than they realized existed. Star shared her story of how she came to be blessed and in possession of the stone. Star’s mother told her of the families, the blessing and the stones when she was a child. The stone was lost for a period of time, and many generations had come and gone since their family was in possession of the stone again. It was part of the destiny of the fourth family to not be in possession of the fourth stone until Star was born. Star woke up early the morning of her 12th birthday. Her adventures though the day would lead her right to the fourth stone. “Nine years ago today it was, that I came into possession of the stone and learned that I was different from the other kids”, she said. She became an astrophysicist. Glen explained to Star that something else happens when the stones connect. Knowing it was their destiny they joined the stones. What happened next was something unexplainable even for Star. Just like before, when the stones connected, a disk shaped object floated above the stones. The floating disk was like a larger stone that showed them each other’s blessings from a combined perspective. In that instant all three were as one. My Grandfather, Glen, and Star could hear each other’s thoughts, travel time, but this time a new attribute was added (that of space, detailed locations, and dimensions). Now the perimeter of the combined stones powers had enlarged. They experimented with this new set of abilities.
Thought, concepts, mathematics, analytical, creativity; time, history, futures; space, locations, and dimensions. They went on many journeys. The Cave
In the cave around a small fire in the summer of 1970 Joe, Mary, Glen, and Star for the first time in many generations had combined all four stones. The floating disk showed an impact on the earth from the debris of a counter balance mechanism of our solar system. This was to cause the near extinction of the human race. The four could see exactly when and where it would hit, but those calculations were mute compared to the devastation the entire planet would under go with the “Super Powers” lack of knowledge and technology to prevent it. They knew that only the families with the correct genetic coding would survive (minus the ones residing in the direct area of the impact). Where were they? Who were they? How many were there? Where could they shelter them from the pending disaster? How were they to divulge this knowledge and not cause panic or chaos, much less get thrown into an asylum, or arrested and detained?
They tried to figure out how and what part of this knowledge should be shared with mankind at this stage of their development. And whom they could responsibly share it with. They knew what was to come, but how could they prepare the planet for the event about to take place? The medium of mass media was in Joe and Glen’s hands. The world knew Joe from his words and music. This would be the platform in which to launch that portion of this new campaign. A new album had to be written, recorded, and somehow released in time to tell of this pending event. The words had to be chosen wisely to make people think (but not panic), the music had to make people feel instead of thinking (touching the inner part of their soul), and the combination had to make it’s way to the ones that would survive (so they can continue in the aftermath). They had until the first day of winter. Star and Mary used their certified knowledge to try and convince the scientific community. They met with opposition. Since only the blessed could see they had no solid proof of their predictions (the counter balance was not able to be seen with the current technology). Deciding to keep the stones themselves secret, they were determined nonetheless to warn others of the immanent and pending disaster. They were in the time of the hippie generation. Until my great grandfather, Glen, Star, and Mary got together in 1970, mankind had not since seen the unification of the four stones.
Alan looked around the cave, and going off into a tangent he said, “I was very young when I first met my great grandfather’s friends, Glen, Star, and Mary”. Noticing the fire had burned down, he added more wood. Continuing he said, “They all seemed quite old and wise. I remember sitting in on one of their journeys with my great grandfather. He wanted to share the knowledge first hand. We went back to the beginning of the Stones. My great grandfather reminded me that this was to be remembered and passed down through all the families.”
All of the families were there, and the blessed decedents in the group knew very well about the stones and the importance of secrecy, yet passing the knowledge on so that mankind could refer for an understanding of our universe in a non-destructive manner.
The group had come to know Alan as the wisest in the group, and the lineage of the blessed. Therefore they respected his words and wisdom. As a storyteller, he had a reverence in his delivery. The very existence of the remaining human race was at stake.

Got up this morning and went to work on the recording thing. Setting up the levels for the inputs/splits/mixing etc…, and it feels good to get back in the studio. With the band adjourned I have more free time to devote to the recordings. It’s time to get back in the studio and record. I’ll let everyone know how the recordings are going and when the project is complete.
